About Maverick

Maverick is a very sweet 7 yr old Aussie mix. He was owner surrendered in Dec. 2023 because his family was moving and unable to take him. They indicated they had owned him for 7 yrs. The shelter said the family had children and he got along well with them. As of Jan. 22, he moved into foster care to begin treatment for heartworms. He is very well crate trained and loves to have his elk antler and Kong in there with him. He is housetrained and easy on the leash. Maverick responds to sit, stay, shake and down. His owners indicated he was agility trained. He will wait for a command before entering the house. When he is anxious, he will retreat to his crate. He is currently living with a 14 yr old female Terrier mix and he learned quickly to give her some space. They are getting along well. He is not food aggressive, but he does like to tip over his kibble bowl and eat off the floor. He is gentle with treats and wants to cuddle with those he is comfortable with.
