About Pippin

Pippin is a 9 year old Catahoula/Blue Heeler mix, born 8-13-2014. There's a few reasons Pip is being rehomed; I don't have enough time to work with him anymore, and with age he's been getting more sensitive and overwhelmed at times. He's been getting aggressive towards my 4 year old son as well, and recently bit him. The bite didn't break skin, but it terrified my son. Pippin would be a great solo pet. It would be a huge plus if he could go with someone who has experience with his breed. He has lived with female dogs and smaller dogs just fine, but we have had some issues with other med/large male dogs. He tolerates cats. He is extremely food motivated, and is really pushy when it comes to food. He will steal food if he can reach it. We feed him in a slow feeder bowl to keep him from eating too fast. Pip has had issues in the past with having crystallization buildup in his urine. We have managed to keep that in check for years by making sure he doesn't eat 'people food'. He knows a few basic commands; sit, lay down, shake (alternating paws). He is a very head strong dog and doesn't always listen. He gets excited quick and is always full of energy. But he wants to play and love all the time. He does get kind of wild and crazy, and will accidentally knock someone over. All-in-all, I would absolutely love to find someone to give Pippin the best rest of his life that he can have. I know that I'm not giving him what he deserves anymore, and I know that with a little time he'll be a perfect dog for someone out there.
