Sage is a year old with being born between Thanksgiving and Christmas. She would like to start out 2024 in a home of her own. Sage enjoys belly rubs, chewing bones and being with you watching TV. Sage came from a puppy mill and did not know these fine comforts that can come from a loving family. In just a couple of months, she has learned what things are and will continue to grow into her surroundings. Sometimes things startle her but she returns quickly. Sage likes other dogs, is potty and crate trained. Sage would do best in a home that does not travel much. Sage would need a fenced yard, so she can explore and learn what the outdoor life has in store for her. We are unsure how Sage will do with cats or kids. Sage is also heartworm negative, utd on shots and spayed. Sage seems to navigate toward the men in the family. Her foster dad gets kisses on the regular and fist bumps when she wants to be petted. Sage will also put her butt to you to get continuous pets, if you are working remotely, she will spend time at your feet or on a dog bed next to you, and will occasionally nudge you for pets while you're typing away. A special note about puppy mill survivors: Puppy mill survivors often come with 'baggage' that needs to be unpacked which takes time. This baggage is fear - fear of loud noises, quick movements, vehicles, stairs, etc., The fears can be deep seated and may not ever be completely overcome. Adopters of puppy mill survivors need to be gentle and patient. The donation is based on the age and health of the dog being adopted as well as its level of training. 100% of donations are directed to the veterinary expenses of the dogs in our care. Sage is being fostered in Michigan; however, don't let location be a barrier, BRI can arrange transport to many states east of the Mississippi!
