About Griffin

Griffin, a super handsome boxer mix, brings joy and energy into any room he enters. At about 6-7 years old and nearly 70 pounds, he's a presence you can't miss - just look at that smile! His warm demeanor and love for human interaction make him an ideal companion for any family looking for a big lovebug. Griffin, which means 'strong lord,' truly earned his name with all that he has been through. Griffin has sadly lived his entire life outdoors and is only now learning how to be a dog. After his owner recently died, he watched from his dirt-filled kennel as everything was removed from the home. The last thing left was Griffin and they dumped him at a kill shelter, disposing him like he was a piece of trash. At the shelter, he was very shut down and would sit there looking out of his kennel waiting for the impossible, his owner to return. Due to a lack of space, he was scheduled to be euthanized but we could not let that happen so we quickly scooped him up and flew him up from NC to CT. Griffin has shown remarkable adaptability, especially with other pets. Although he hasn't shown much interest in cats, he's getting along well with the other dog in his current foster home. Considering his background, Griffin is still learning the ropes of doggy socialization but is making steady progress. With infants, he's sweet and curious, offering the occasional affectionate foot lick and sniff, showcasing his gentle nature. He is a quick learner too; he's already mastered 'sit' and is on his way to perfecting 'stay.' Griffin is enthusiastic about toys, especially those that squeak or make noise, and he appreciates a sturdy chew toy. These playthings not only entertain him but also provide a great outlet for his energy. Speaking of energy, don't let his age fool you because Griffin has plenty of it! He's currently working on his leash manners, indicating that he'll need an owner who can provide him with plenty of fun and outdoor adventures. Griffin would thrive in a home where he can receive lots of love, attention, and exercise. Whether joining in on family activities, going for a jog, or simply cuddling up after a long day, he's ready to be a loving and loyal companion.
