About Archie

A dog that we had as a puppy was recently returned to us because he did not get along with the other pets in the home. When he first came to us he was with his littermates, which we pulled from a kill shelter out of state, and they were all very young. Unfortunately, Archie was one of only 3 survivors of the litter due to parvo. Archie and his siblings fought hard through their treatment and some were able to pull through, but the rest weren't so lucky. So now Archie is 1 year old as of 12/27/2023. We have received no interest from the public in meeting him, and we typically have a hard time with placing any kind of collie/sheltie/shepherd breed of dog in this area for some reason. My hope is that maybe if he is placed at a different rescue specifically geared towards his breed that he will have more luck finding his forever home. He needs to be the only animal in the house. He has been seen to be nervous at first and a little leary of strangers but has been good here if you get down to his level first. This is with men especially. He is not a fan of little kids as well. Once he gets to know you, he is very sweet and good boy who likes to give kisses! Archie, in his previous home that returned him, went through a training course. We spoke to his trainer. He would do best with a job! He needs an outlet for exercise and a fenced in backyard would be ideal. He would benefit from daily enrichment activities and would do really well in an agility class. He would thrive with someone with an active lifestyle. During his 2-week boarding, he learned basic commands such as sit, down, place, break, and heel. He is good at walking on a leash.
