Name: Zeus Age: approx. 6 years Breed: Mixed breed, 65 pounds Sex: Male (neutered) Location: St. Clair County, IL Zeus' owner took him in as a stray off of the streets, and he was in very bad condition. He's now healthy and living in a home with five other dogs. 'We really love Zeus, but he is not currently compatible with our other dogs. We always intended to foster him after finding him on the streets, but we are forced to isolate him from the rest of the family. We don't spend enough time with him, and we are hoping to give him a better life.' Vet Info: Zeus is neutered and microchipped. He's current with his annual examination, Rabies, DHPP, Fecal test for parasites (negative), and Heartworm test (negative). They're due again in November 2024. The vet says she believes Zeus has been blind since birth. She believes he can see shadows but no definition. Other than his vision, we're told that Zeus is in good health. Dog Info: Zeus is an indoor dog living in one area of the home. He's housebroken and leash trained. Zeus knows the cue for Sit. While he can be nervous and shy at times, Zeus is generally good with men and women. His owner tells us, 'I have not seen him around cats or children, so I am unsure how he would do, but he is very friendly with people.' He is currently living with five other dogs of various sizes and ages. Zeus bit one of the other large dogs on the ear and latched on when they were outside together. Their owner was able to break up the altercation and believes that Zeus has some anxiety and fear because of his blindness and the difficulty he had living on the streets. Otherwise, Zeus has adapted to the home pretty quickly. This bite would be considered a Level 4 on the Dunbar Bite Scale: https://apdt.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/ian-dunbar-dog-bite-scale.pdf Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in Zeus.
