About Delta

LOCATION: Colorado Springs, Colorado DOB: 08/13/2020 Meet Delta, the stunning blue female Dane who brings a touch of elegance to every room she enters. Despite not realizing her size, Delta has a fantastic temperament, especially with kids and most humans. Affection is her language, and she demands ALL the pets, even scooting between her owners during hugs. She's content with a comfy dog bed, never venturing onto the furniture where her canine siblings lounge. Her potty training is pretty much complete, but she might have an occasional accident if left unattended too long. She is in the process of learning to give her humans cues for when she needs to go outside.. She only wants to go out if accompanied by her humans. She is struggling with some anxiety behaviors when she is left all alone and during thunderstorms. On walks, she's been known to display a 'tall dog lean' that can easily alter your walking route and balance. Because of her size and lack of awareness, small children might not be a great fit for her. Slow intros would be required for any dogs. Cats are a no-go. Delta's communication skills extend to mealtime, where she'll vocalize her impatience if you're not quick enough. She is learning how to wait for her food bowl to be placed and given an OK before her eager consumption. She is the queen of drool after quenching her thirst but has no problem letting you wipe her jowls and clean her up like a diva. Toys, especially those with squeakers, bring out the playful side of Delta. While she may counter-surf, a simple 'no' redirects her well. Leash training is a work in progress. Overall she is a lazy girl who loves snuggles, but her occasional zoomies reveal her more energetic side. Delta may swipe a pillow off your bed and leave you a slobbery reminder of her affection. That's because she likes having soft spots to lay on that smell like her people. In essence, Delta is a gentle, affectionate giant with a loving personality. She requires a patient family to continue working on social cues and training.
