About Annie

Adoption Fee: $50
Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

We'd love to introduce you to Annie in Charlotte, NC! This sweet baby is still available for adoption and looking for her forever home! You won't find her on the CMPD Animal Care and Control website anymore because me and my partner, Aidan, actually adopted her back in October. 'Wait, why did you adopt her if you're still fostering her?' Aidan and I decided that we wanted more control in the screening and meet & greet process so we could ensure we find the best home for her. The shelter has a 'first come first serve' policy, and I've observed that as a result, a lot of dogs are mismatched with homes and end up returned to the shelter. We love Annie with all our hearts, but we are both allergic and I travel full time - I volunteer at the CMPD Animal Care and Control, and pulled Annie from the shelter because she was at risk of euthanasia. We've been consulting with trainers so she's best set up for success. We want to find her a home where she can run around, snuggle up, and thrive. If you or anyone you know are interested, please don't hesitate to reach out. Annie is the sweetest most loving dog I've ever met, and deserves the world! %BD' Cutest full-body wiggles every time she greets anyone. She loves, loves, LOVES snuggles and attention. Has the most expressive, soulful eyes I've ever seen! Whenever we ride in the car together (she adores car rides), she'll spend most of the time staring at me with those big brown eyes! She is very curious and smart, and loves to explore. Annie craves affection and just wants to be near you. She is definitely a velcro dog! We've noticed patterns of separation anxiety (she cries when we leave the house, or when she's put in the kitchen while we're in the living room), however she's learning that we're coming back after we leave. She stays in the kitchen at night where her crate is, and knows that her crate is a safe space to sleep. She likes to greet people during walks and is learning not to pull - she's getting better every day! We use a special collar to prevent her from pulling and choking herself, which helps. Annie can be around other dogs, but needs slow introductions. We have taken her to doggie daycare several times, and the staff loves her. They said that she doesn't mind being around other dogs, but is very shy and prefers to be around people. However she is leash reactive, and will sometimes pull and bark at passing dogs while we walk. Annie enjoys playing, and will get spurts of zoomie energy, but is still learning not to nip while doing so (she's improved a lot with this, and knows that when we stop engaging with her, that she needs to sit, calm down, and reset). They aren't aggressive or hard nips, but we haven't had a chance to socialize her with children yet. She just gets so excited to be near you. She does best with durable toys. I'm not just saying this because she's my foster - she is the best dog! I've had so many people comment on her loving, sweet temperament. She's truly an angel and has so much love to give. We're asking for a $50 fee, which we will donate to the CMPD Animal Care and Control to support other dogs like Annie.
