About BUDDY

Chihuahua mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Name: Buddy Age: born 9/23/2020 Breed: Mixed Chihuahua, 12 pounds Sex: Male, neutered Location: Meriwether County, GA Due to his owner's recent health issues and owning multiple dogs, Buddy's owner is looking for a new family to help him receive the attention that he deserves! 'Buddy is a sweet loving pup. He wants to feel someone touching him as much as possible but will play with our female for long periods. His vision makes him prone to bark more and makes him nervous with new situations. He is also a little hard of hearing at times. Buddy is very loving and makes a great lap dog. He does not pull on a leash, just walks very well.' Vet Info: Buddy is neutered and microchipped. He tested heartworm negative in September 2023. He is up to date on Bordetella and DPPv until September 2024. According to his veterinarian, Buddy has bilateral steamy corneas limited side. There was an increase in pressure or glaucoma originally, and now he has bilateral anterior uveitis. Per the vet Buddy sees mostly shadows and images. For more information, one resource is: https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/uveitis-in-dogs Dog Info: Buddy had come into a local shelter as a stray and has been with his owner for a few months. He's an indoor dog with the run of the house. Buddy is house broken and leash trained. Like many Chihuahuas, Buddy can be nervous but gets along with men and women as well as female dogs. He currently lives with six other dogs, and one of the males does not do well with Buddy. His owner tells us that Buddy has not been mean to her male dogs but only defended himself when one of them jumped on him. She said that since his eyes are bad, he doesn't see when he is invading another dog's space, plus her rescued male dachshund isn't the friendliest with other male dogs. Buddy's owner said that he has been around strangers and just wants to be loved on and has been very nice. He has not been around cats, but she tells us, 'I would think, just knowing him this short while, that he would do fine with them.' Buddy is a very sweet and loving pup. His owner tells us that once he nipped at a young girl, but she thinks the girl was too aggressive with him, and, being partially blind, it scared him. It did draw a small bit of blood. This would be considered Level 2 on the Dunbar Bite Scale. A Level 2 bite is defined as skin-contact by teeth but not skin-puncture. However, there may be skin nicks (less than one tenth of an inch deep) and slight bleeding caused by forward or lateral movement of teeth against skin, but no vertical punctures.
