German Shepherd / Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

My name is Ruby. My foster mom and dad keep telling me I'm SUCH a good dog and if they weren't in their 80s, they'd keep me. Here are some of the things I've heard them say since I arrived from South Korea: I'm beautiful with big eyes and ears and I'm the perfect size, and I'm gentle and calm even though I'm still a puppy, almost 9 months old, and I'm smart and learn quickly and I do well in a dog training school, and I'm almost 100% housebroken, and pretty well crate trained, and I walk well on a leash as long as I'm wearing my gentle leader and get some treats though I occasionally get scared by things and stop and sometimes pull back. I have a burst of energy in the morning and then I like to nap. Later in the afternoon I like to play and then I settle down for the evening and they trust me to be out of my kennel at night and i usually sleep on the dog bed by their bed. I'd really like to play with other dogs but their pet dog is older and almost never plays with me even though I roll on my back for her. I love to chew on bones (they limit me on soft toys because I sometimes chew them up and swallow bits), and I think it's fun to tear up cardboard boxes or paper. I LOVE being petted. I admit I bark every so often at noises, and I do bark at strangers coming into the house unless they have a dog with them and it takes me a little bit to warm up to them. I'd really like to catch a squirrel but they're too fast. I don't know if I like cats or children because I haven't been around them%BD'%BD|they'd probably scare me. Here's what my foster mom has to say about me: Ruby is a wonderful young dog and if we weren't in our 80s, we'd keep her. She arrived from South Korea in August and has settled in beautifully to her new life. She's still leery of, to her, strange things when out walking such as yard decorations or a person pushing a baby stroller. She'd be a great candidate for a dog training program as she's highly food motivated and learns quickly. She is still a puppy and as such does puppy things such as grabbing loose garments off the bed or chair, playing with them; I now have a few shirts with small holes in them. ******* Adoption fee: $700 plus $35 microchip fee ******* Ruby is being fostered in Northeastern Oregon. PACIFIC NORTHWEST and NORTHERN CALIFORNIA APPLICANTS ONLY: Oregon, Washington, Southern British Columbia, Western Idaho and Northern California. Please do not inquire if outside these areas.
