[Read About Natural Incontinence Care] Earl has a BIG personality & when he's happy he's great. He's very high energy & easily excitable. He's slightly mouthy. He's also a 'hoppy' dog, which is so stinking cute to see him hop & spin for his treats. Earl seems to be eager to please & is especially responsive to treats. He is an aggressive chewer so I have gotten him the Bark Box for heavy chewers (I have 1 box delivery left & am happy to send it with him). Thankfully he's not chewed up any furniture, just 3 shoes. He seems particularly attracted to plastic & always tries to grab my reading glasses & the remote control, among other misc items. He loves his toys that hide treats. At adoption, I was told Earl was good with other dogs, but I have not had him around other animals at this point. He absolutely loves people & shows no aggressiveness when someone arrives at the house to let him out of his crate. However, he doesn't particularly like going INTO his crate - he WILL go in, with encouragement & I usually offer him a treat before covering the crate. Earl received 6 private training sessions & we worked on sit, stay, place, heel & come. He is great with place, when a treat is involved. I have used an ecollar on him (this was a $200 purchase & I can include that in his adoption) & he was responsive to come. He reluctantly knows heel. Earl gets 2 walks every day of approx 15-30 mins - once in the morning & once at night & probably needs more. On leash, he oftentimes will grab the leash & play tug of war, unless a tight leash is used. He did not do well with a harness. I usually use a hard plastic training/prong collar when he's on walks, & lots of treats. The trainer alluded to the fact that Earl seems very intelligent, but he needs consistent work with his commands & training - something I am having trouble providing. Only once did Earl show signs of aggression with a treat - obviously he considered it a very high value treat & I should not have tried to take it from him. I have never had any issues with his food...in fact, he sits patiently while I scoop his food & waits for me to say 'Eat'. Medical Issues: I'm not entirely certain, but it seems Earl may have some incontinence issues. He frequently 'leaks' throughout the house. Generally speaking, he does not go to the bathroom in his crate; however, he has defecated on the kitchen floor & has urinated on the floor, on the couch & in my bed. I have not addressed this issue with a vet.
