About STEVIE

Pit Bull mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Good Samaritian reports 'for any volunteer whose able to take Stevie, Western Wag (the daycare he is living at) is willing to offer free daycare/boarding and to contribute to his food and medical expenses until we find his forever home.' Name: STEVIE Breed: Pitbull Age: Approximately 6 years old (60#) Sex: Male (neutered) Location: Cook County, IL Vet Info: HW negative. Current on vaccines. 'Stevie has been diagnosed with glaucoma and cataracts. He is completely blind. He takes eye drops daily to slow the effects of glaucoma to avoid eye removal.' Owner reports: Stevie was found as a stray and is being helped by a good Samaritian. 'He's currently living in a daycare facility after being abandoned and he is very stressed out there (pacing back and forth, barking, not sleeping well) so we know it's not a good fit for him. He has figured out where the stairs are, where the water dish is, and where his bed is.' Stevie is and indoor dog confined to one area of the house. He is house broken and leash trained. Stevie knows the following commands 'Sit, No, Wait, Down and Up.' Stevie is a very active dog that needs to go to a home where he can get walked regularly. Stevie is said to be outgoing and nervous, good with adults and children of all ages. Caretaker reports 'After losing vision, he started to have issues interacting with other dogs. Because of this, I muzzle trained him so he is ready to be re-introduced. We are also working with a trainer on trust exercises.' 'No aggression towards humans. Highly reactive around other dogs only after losing full vision. Was completely fine around dogs and in daycare prior to complete vision loss. Trainers have said that he is currently displaying signs of stress around other dogs but have not labeled it as aggression.' Good Samaritian reports 'Stevie is very trainable. He is smart. He thrives in a calm environment. He needs a couple of walks a day but doesn't have high energy needs, and is very happy to sleep on the couch. He also loves the car! He's very cuddly and loving.' **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
