Take a look at this handsome guy! Atlas wandered onto our property from the mountains. I believe he was dumped or got separated from his hiking/hunting owner. He was cold, skinny and scared. He had been out there a while. I am currently fostering him (since 10/1/23) - no luck finding his previous owner. No collar, tags, or microchip. He has not been claimed in TWO MONTHS... so, he's ready to make someone a very lucky adopter! He's 2-ish years old, and is 50% black lab, 50% boxer (confirmed by a DNA test with Embark). Atlas is a tall dog that loves to be loved-on. Scratches on his belly and ears make him happiest. He loves being outside (and seems to have had kennel-training in the past) but will also happily nap indoors on the floor. He's been fostered in a house with infants and toddlers and has done very well with the noises and excitement that comes with that setting. Good with: men, women, babies and toddlers; both male and female dogs; chickens; and cats that don't run Trouble with: cats that run; the temptation to chase cows and goats (just for fun - he's not malicious... and it seems this could be deterred with firm training); cars pulling into the driveway at 'his house' (he could care less about the human... and will settle down once he sniffs around the outside of the car)_ Personality: gentle, quiet, eager to please; doesn't chew things up Other: very food-motivated; loves to run; likes to cuddle; has basic commands down but could use some fine-tuning; returns to you with whistle or calling his name Needs: daily exercise and lots of love! We live on a farm - Atlas has chased goats, sheep and cows, so he may need a setting without them OR be leashed/trained. He never chases in malice, just playful. Doesn't seem to care about birds or cats (unless they run - again, just chases for fun). Atlas can be timid at first but once he sees that someone is kind, he has no issues. Loves to be pet on. I believe he has been hit in the past - he will flinch in preparation for a hit if you move your hand too quickly past his head. No aggression ever shown, just scared. Atlas does great riding in side-by-sides and cars/trucks. He does great running next to side-by-sides and four-wheelers. I feel so lucky to have rescued Atlas. If we were at a different stage in our lives, we would keep him. He is gentle, great with kids, playful, and energetic. I want the world for him! https://youtube.com/shorts/BaPIG4qun3Y?feature=share
