About Max

Meet Max! Max came to me a few days ago, and although he is very sweet, he is not a good fit for me and my cat in our small home. Max was an outside dog on a sheep farm until just a few days ago. He was intended to be a sheep herding dog but even with training still wants to chase instead of herd. Pros: He has a very sweet personality and wants to be a good indoor pet. He has some training and is very responsive to treats and training in the time I've had him. He is crate-trained and good in the car. He is good with other dogs and has pretty good recall when off-leash at the park. He is good on the leash and loves to take walks and hikes. He loves to snuggle on the couch and get pets and loves. According to his previous owner, he has been around some children but I think he would do better with older children as he is high energy. Cons: He is not good with cats - he really wants to chase and probably eat my cat. He has not had enough indoor experience and needs some training to improve his indoor potty training both in the home and in pet stores/Home depot, etc. He is high energy and will do best in a home with an active person who wants an outdoor activity partner and with someone who has border collie/high energy dog experience and experience with dog training. Again, not a good fit for someone with a cat and probably not a good fit for small children as he will want to jump up and smother them with love. Max is about 2 ��%BD%BD years old, about 40 lbs and very sleek, handsome and healthy. He had his original puppy shots but no updated vet care since then. He will need his rabies shots and maybe more shots updates. He is still intact. Per the original owner, Max is a purebred border collie and AKC registered, but he couldn't find the papers and I have no evidence of this other than my own eyes.
