About Lexi

Adoption Fee: $300
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

I am 15 years old and I got my first dog, Lexi, when I was 13. I did so much research on quite literally everything about the Australian shepherd. I found a nice breeder and got her at 8 weeks old. I thought I did great socializing her, exercising her mentally and physically, etc. but She is now two years old and has aggression issues with our 9 year old Shih Tzu. We have tried so hard to manage it, keeping them away from her, doing training with her, etc. but there has been a couple times when they have accidentally come into contact or someone else has opened the doors and she has ran in and attacked him. We have two shih tzus one female who is 3 and the 9 year old male. She has never once had an issue with our female but just seems to hate the male. Whenever she has attacked him she has only ever once broken the skin. I've constantly deeply researched why and reasons for her acting this way and it seems I can never come to an adequate answer. I have been extremely hesitant to allow her to play with other dogs but when she does she is always under constant supervision, and/or with a muzzle on. She's played with both male and female dogs and has played great every time so I don't understand why we have the problems we have at home. But after a recent fight between the two, I have decided, as much as it hurts me, that I have to rehome her to do what's best for our other dogs and the other members of my family. This is by far the hardest thing I've ever done. But here are some things about her: Her birthday is April 16, 2021 She lives inside and outside with an invisible fence and absolutely loves the outdoors and especially snow She knows 21 commands She's been around horses and does great with them She loves running next to me while I ride my bike She loves car rides She is muzzle trained and off leash trained She has a release command for eating She loves her kennel but she also loves sleeping with someone She's extremely lovey and will stay by your side all the time She's great with hiking and camping She does not go to the groomers, I do all her grooming by myself Great for nail trimming, hair cuts, and baths She adores cats Good for the vet And much more Requirements for her home: No other dogs. She likes cats but I would be more comfortable in a home without one. Children are debatable, she has never shown any aggression towards people but rowdiness, screaming, etc sets her off and makes her anxious. Must have a decent backyard or property because she loves outside. Must keep in contact with me, obviously not a lot but I would love updates here and there. And It must be a decently active home. I have much more positives to say about this dog than I do negatives. She has to go to a good home, and to preferably find her one as soon as I can. *also she is not spayed, we planned on it but I wanted to wait until she was 2 year old and then we had to wait for her MDR1 gene test to come back and I had to find a time where I was going to be on break from school to be able to stay home with her and then there just have been no availabilities. She will come with her kennel, some blankets, her collar, e collar and remote, muzzle, food, bowls, leash, toys, etc. for more details or text me at 225-773-1503
