Butters is a 1 year male purebred Aussie. As you may expect, he is a ball of energy. He is looking for an active family preferably with a fenced in yard with a desire to put effort into training him and taking him on walks. Butters is a smart dog and knows basic commands and is eager to learn more. He needs to continue to be exposed to new things, as he's still overcoming some social anxiety due to his past experience in a shelter and is understandably a little hesitant with new people and places. He was prescribed anti-anxiety medication in the past due to the changes he's been through in the last few months, but it may not be something he needs to take long term. His current foster has been using it infrequently on an as-needed basis. He does bark at strangers initially, but once they show him they are friendly after a few minutes he'll calm down and even lick them. A family without small children would be best, as he does jump up and can sometimes playfully nip. If you are bringing him into a home with another dog, he needs to be placed with a dog that is non-dominant and playful and won't get bothered by his barking for attention and playful nipping, which can be perceived by some dogs as aggressive. Other small animals are not recommended. He does love running around with a ball and to be chased while he is playing with other toys, but he is also able to settle down and lay near you. He does have a habit of jumping on furniture, but with consistent training that can be corrected, if needed. He is potty trained and picked up tapping the bells on the door very quickly to notify he needs (or wants) to go out, however every now and then he has some accidents. He has had a history of being sensitive to some dog foods but overall is very food motivated. Overall, butters is a loyal playful dog looking for his perfect family. He just needs one that will put time into training him and building up that confidence.
