I got a new foster hound girl! We have 4 personal dogs already; 3 boys and 1 girl. I didn't know what to call this cute, quirky addition to our pack'|so I just started referring to her as 'The New Girl.' That got me thinking about the show by the same name. It stars Zooey Deschanel as the main character Jess. The premise of the show is that Jess is a little offbeat and 'adorkable' but she had a bad breakup with her ex and she has moved into an apartment with three guys, where hilarity ensues. Her friends do their best to hook her up with a new love interest. The parallel references are uncanny: 1. offbeat and 'adorkable''| tell me that doesn't sound like EVERY SINGLE HOUND you've ever met!; 2. bad break-up with her ex'|I truly believe that this sweet girl's 'owner' used her for breeding and then dumped her; 3. moves in with three guys'|yes, the Duncan casa has three men (Manny, Shorty and Mr. Bean) - plus the old Millie girl; 4. hilarity ensues'|well duh! Doesn't it always when you have a house full of knucklehead furbabies!; 5. Her friends'|me, you, and all our rescue volunteers; and finally 6. hook her up with a new love interest'|we will find her the VERY BEST FOREVER HOME! Now on to some other fun facts about Jess. She is definitely a diamond in the rough and with the right polishing (and patience) she will be glorious jem! She has all of the amazing and silly typical hound personality traits! She can be chatty and is sometimes loud and silly when playing. So an apartment, condo or townhome probably not the best fit. Plus, Jess really wants and needs a 6ft fenced yard to run and play with her furry siblings! She has some hops so even when outside in her fenced yard, she and her friends should have a 'chaperone.' Don't let this little escape artist fool you! Jess needs an active family with an equally active brother/sister dog, so they can wear each other out. Her new family will need to continue to work on training and be able to plan 'boredom buster' activities to give her fun things to chew on and keep her busy. Jess is crate trained and potty trained so no worries there. She is happy to sleep in her crate or on the sofa cuddled up with her foster siblings. Jess has not been cat tested and hasn't had the opportunity to meet any kitties yet. We don't THINK she would hurt a cat, but would definitely give chase! A home with dog-savvy kitties and places that are 'kittie spaces' we think will be ok. If her new family has kids, they should be older and enjoy the attention of a lively pup. Jess would easily accidentally knock down littles with her happy energy. If you are looking for fun, then look no further than Jess. She will have you laughing and smiling each and every day with her houndy-endless-lust-for-life! There is no such thing as a bad day with Jess. She takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary with her antics. If she isn't getting into some kind of 'trouble' she's probably asleep. If you are energetic, joyful, cheerful, and have a ZEST for life and adventure, then you must meet Jess. She is truly all about love and laughter. DOB(9/14/2018) As part of Jess's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email [email protected]. If you wish to adopt Jess, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. Interested?
