About Cockatiels

Adoption Fee: $100
Pet Bird
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

I'm sadly looking to rehome my 2 male cockatiels who I've had for over a decade and adopted when I was in my early 20s. I'm really looking to keep them together - since they've bonded after so many years - and find their next home for the rest of their lives (since cockatiels can live up to 30 yo). Ideally they could live in a home/room where their wings can remain unclipped and continue to free fly, or atleast be taken out every day. And ideally the person or family would come meet them at our house in Silver Spring, MD to learn more and discuss. Peri: Beautiful cinnamon pearl male cockatiel hatched by a breeder in NJ/PA on June 18, 2010 (13 yo). I raised him from a young age so he's more comfortable with touch. He enjoys scritches on his neck and cheeks and will accept beak kisses. He can be very musical and a good whistler, and is a strong flyer and fun personality. He loves to land on your head or sleep on your shoulder and just hang out together. Fred: Sweet pied male cockatiel born approx. 1998 (25 yo). Adopted in 2010 from a vet in NJ/PA. Was told he had been surrendered by an elderly owner who could no longer care for him. He knows how to do 'kiss' on his beak, whistles some tunes, and likes to sit on my shoulder and play with jewelry. He loves to get into crevices, including past play in backpacks, baskets, tupperware, and closets. He seems to crave touch but I've never been able to do it right for his fickle taste. He will consistently come up on my finger but sometimes lightly bite my finger or ear in protest. He isn't the strongest flyer despite having fully grown wings for years, and it'd be best to keep him away from big windows. Someone with more time and attention to invest in trust building will probably find a best friend and quirky companion in Fred. They both love lettuce and millet, showers, sitting by a sunny window, and brown paper bag play. More pics of them on my old IG page @dynamicharisma. They should be taken to a vet in the next few months for a check up. In the past I've brought them to Maryland Avian & Exotics Veterinary Care in Rockville, MD. If whoever takes them can't keep them for any reason in the next few years, I'd request first right in taking them again, before they goto another stranger. They'll come with: Large two-door black wire cage with food and water cups (will post pic soon) Small collapsable white wire cage, e.g. for travel and vet visits Perches Chewing toys Homemade seed and grain mix and Harrison's super fine pellet food
