This is Koa, an Australian Kelpie who was purchased as a pup from a working ranch. She is 3 years old and weighs about 50 pounds. Koa is well trained and has also worked recently with a professional trainer. Koa knows all of the basic commands, rollover, bath time, heel on either side, bang bang, spin, and dozens of other words. She is house trained and also goes into her crate on command. Koa is a typical herder in preferring that people ignore her for a moment when meeting her, so she can get to know them. She then warms up and has a small circle of friends. She isn't a social butterfly, instead being more of a few close friends kind of dog. She has nipped someone who pushed her, got in her space, and chose to ignore her signals to give her space. Because of her preference for a few close friends, she isn't a fit for a busy household or a home with kids. Koa is fine with polite dogs her size and larger, but isn't a fan of small dogs. She does enjoy some larger dog playmates. Koa would prefer to be the only dog in her new home. Koa has been trained with an e-collar to help her remember to leave little dogs alone, and her new home should be prepared to continue using the collar in a fair manner. She isn't a dog park kind of gal. Koa is a massive fan of playing ball. She will play rain or shine. Koa is looking for a home in a quiet neighborhood or ideally a rural community where she doesn't have the noise of city life to bother her. Koa is very smart and loves to learn. For her special people, she also likes to snuggle. She enjoys soft bedding and likes to sleep on pillows. She enjoys sunbathing and also thinks a pool is great. She isn't afraid to wade into a lake to cool off, and she loves to swim. Click on the red YouTube button to see her at the beach. Koa thrives on routine and structure. She is devoted to her favorite few people and will make a great pal for someone who prefers the quiet outdoors to city life. Koa is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in Los Angeles and is ready to meet adopters who can meet & adopt here. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt.
