About Teddy

Adoption Fee: $20
Chow Chow / Golden Retriever
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I got him when he was 10 weeks old. He needs a lot of care and attention that I cannot give him anymore. He has allergies to fleas and sensitive skin so he needs flea medications as well as allergy medications when he starts itching uncontrollably. He needs to be groomed every 6 weeks to keep his fur from shedding (more than normal), nails clipped because he wont let you do them yourself, and the oatmeal baths help his skin. He was a very well behaved dog at the beginning but then he started growling at my 10 year old daughter if she came near me. He is not very good around children because if they are running around he will chase them and nip at them. My boyfriend and his 2 kids (5,7) plan to move in with us in the next couple of months and we have tried to acclimate him around the kids but he still acts unsure about them and I'm terrified he will bite them one day. He started getting into the trash and making huge messes around the house. He gets excited when I come home and pees on the floor, which I know some dogs do but a couple times he has just fully stood and peed on the entrance rug when I've come home. He gets let out when I'm away, he has food and water in his dish, so I don't know why he is doing these things. It's become a huge stressor for me and that's why I'm writing this post. I cannot afford his needs, I'm worried he will bite the kids, and I already have high depression and anxiety so worrying about him on top of my kids, full time job, finances.. it's difficult to stay happy. I know some people are going to say 'don't own a dog if you're going to give him away later.' I don't think people understand how hard this actually is for me. I raised him from a baby. I love him. But he needs more than I can give and my children come first.
