About Joplin

Adoption Fee: $450
Wirehaired Pointing Griffon / Lab
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Joplin - this bouncy ray of sunshine looked so different just a few weeks back. Brought in with her brother Bobby after living on the streets, Joplin was completely shut down in the shelter. She was so terrified when she came in off of transport, she didn't make a peep and hid in tight corners. Fast forward through her decompression - a few days, a bath, and quite a few treats (foster mom isn't above bribery) and this girl began to blossom. The shut-down, can barely make eye contact scared not-so-little thing was now bounding around the backyard, attempting to become best buds with her 4-legged foster sisters, and cautiously hanging with the two-legged foster siblings (two teen boys), and just learning how to 'dog'. Joplin has only been with her foster family in South Tampa, Florida for a couple of weeks. But in that time, her transformation has been stunning. She loves to play ball, chase her 4-legged siblings, hang in her foster mom's office (she's a pro at these Teams meetings), and enjoy movie night with the fam. She bounces with excitement when her people walk in the door, when it's time to eat, when it's time to play. She's incredibly athletic and can bounce right over the couch when she's got the zoomies. Because she is protective and gets quite worried with lots of roughhousing, we think homes with older children (middle school and above) as her current foster home is are fine, but we wouldn't recommend her for a family with littles. Also, since she's still learning how fun it is to walk on a leash, Joplin will need a home with a fenced-in yard. And, though she's been well-behaved (though a tad mischievous) when her foster family is out and about, she really prefers to be around her people and fur friends, so a home where one person is either home a lot, or works for home would be best and she'd do wonderfully with a mentor dog for a fur sibling. Want to hear the saddest sound in the world? Just listen for her 'whoa as me' howl when her foster family leaves for an outing. Joplin started out with such a hard life, and she's come such a long way in such a short time. She will need continued training and socialization until she's finished growing into the incredible pup she's meant to be. Foster mom says she's truly the bee's knees and, once she knows she can trust her new family, she's going to be perhaps the most perfect dog a person could hope for.
