*TO MEET A DOG YOU MUST FIRST SUBMIT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION GO TO WWW.APLACEOFHOPERESCUE.COM OR CLICK THE LINK AT THE END OF THIS BIO.* TANGO is a 6 year old, 13.1 pound terrier mix LOCATION: Pensacola, FL NEEDS: Fenced yard, no younger kids. HIGHLIGHTS: Good energy, loving and happy! Tango is a cute boy with scruffy hair and a fun personality who was found as a stray. He was a little anxious at first, especially around a lot of activity and other dogs, but once we got him into a quieter foster home and he had more one-on-one time with somebody, he showed himself to be a very sweet little dog. Tango is lovable and likes to be around people. He's generally a very happy fellow with a waggy tail! He was growly at first and did some minor resource guarding (including his foster mom), but she got him to stop that with a little correction. His foster mom says he now shares toys, treats, bed, and her with no issue. We think he was loved and trained previously - he knows some basic commands, is happy to please, wants to be with people, and is very trainable. He play bites when he's being affectionate in the morning (like grab and mouth fingers) and all his foster mom has to say is 'no biting' and he stops immediately. Tango barks a little when he's excited (dinnertime!) or if he's feeling protective of his home (unexpected noises outside), but it is not excessive and easily stopped. Tango would probably like a doggy playmate, but would be best with a smaller female. He has gotten along great with all of the females he has met but wasn't a fan of the male dogs when he first came in. Of course he was unaltered then and now he is so that may have something to do with it. Either way we always encourage doing a meet and greet with any other dogs in the home prior to adoption. He would likely be happy in a home as an only dog too. He should not go to a home with young kids, although we believe kids 10+ would be just fine for him. We don't know how he would be with cats. Tango has good energy and needs a fenced yard. He likes to go outside and play with a ball or sniff around, but he wants to come back inside when his foster mom does. He likes to go for walks on a leash, but he needs some more leash training and manners (he just pulls and roams, but he's excited!). He knows how to use a doggy door and is doing great with his housebreaking and has not had any accidents in his foster mom's house. Tango will sleep on a blanket on the big bed and likes to snuggle but will also sleep in a doggy bed if preferred. His foster mom also discovered that he is really good on a boat and enjoys it! Tango has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, has been neutered, has had a fecal test and is heartworm negative. He has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Tango is a good boy looking for his perfect home where he will be safe and loved!
