About Hurley

Adoption Fee: $125
Lab mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hurley is one fantastic dog. He's super sweet and gets along with people and dogs. In the house he's always playful when his people are ready but he'll leave you alone while you're working. He sleeps through the night (with you) and won't wake you up in the morning. On walks, sometimes he walks right by your side and sometimes he pulls a little because he's so excited to explore as much of the world as he can. It's easy to get him to stop pulling unless he spots a squirrel or a bunny. He typically wants to say hi to dogs he passes on walks but doesn't really play with other dogs while on leash. Off leash, he's happy to run around and play. He knows 'sit' and has picked up sitting without being asked when his person stops at an intersection. He loves riding in cars and is a great passenger who stays in the back seat and doesn't bother the driver. He still has a bit of puppy in him and can get a little mouthy during play so probably would do best with older kids. He's a smart dog who's very treat motivated and trainable. Note: Hurley became fearful during a recent transition. He did bite a handler who did not give him space when he gave a warning growl. He has been doing very well since in his current foster home with no further issues. He will need space and time (likely just a few days) to decompress in his future home until he trusts his new family. Hurley is 2.5-year-old, 55 lb. lab mix. He is vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and microchipped. He is also housebroken, crate and leash trained. He actually really likes his crate and even got in it when it was being put together. Hurley is a little chewy and therefore should be crated when home alone and work on this with some training. From Hurley's foster: Positives are he's a sweetheart, he listens, he lets you work, he's always happy to play. I've fostered a bunch of dogs in the last year and a half and he's definitely one of the best. He does need a person who can handle the leash pulling but other than that, I think he'd be a great fit for anyone willing to give up some floor space to his crate. Hurley was saved from the euthanasia list at Memphis Animal Services. He is currently being fostered in Atoka, TN. For the Love of Woofers dogs can be transported to nearby states.
