Sadly his prior owner admitted despite being an awesome, well behaved doggie, he was crated all the time and now no longer has any time for Zeus.. He lived for his freedom walks and tried with all his might to be the perfect family pet, hoping to be free of the cage. Now devastated at being abandoned completely. Timid, urinating on himself, shaking and pancaking during the first few days after arrival, to now emerging confident, agreeable and obedient. Zeus is everything friendly, soft bodied and playful. His photos capture his happy spirit. He lived in harmony with a small dog and was always respectful in the home. Zeus is only 2 years old, with a glossy soft coat. No bite history! No resource guarding! He is a very innocent and sheltered doggie. After only being at the shelter for under 3 weeks, we are devastated the shelter decided to kill list him despite all his potential. He tolerates taking a bath but tries to jump out. He pulls moderately on the leash. For exercise, he goes on walks 1-2 times a day. He loves going on car rides. his previous owner loves how attentive he is. He eats Dog Chow dry food. His favorite treats are: raw eggs, boil chicken, and steak. Upon intake, Zeus was very friendly and energetic. He allowed the counselor to scan him for MC and apply the paper collar. He drank two bowls of water in the waiting area and enjoyed eating Vienna sausages and turkey cold cut slices. He allowed staff to place him in the kennel. He barked constantly while in the kennel. Zeus is on emergency placement for behavioral reasons. He is social with familiar handlers but does demonstrate high stress and fear when leashing to come out of the kennel. He has at times been fearful or easily startled within the shelter setting. He has warmed up to handlers and appeared social and playful with slow and soft approach. He is described as a friendly and outgoing dog by the previous owner. With prolonged stay in our care Zeus has once again to display fear and stress in response to leashing or exiting the kennel. He would most appreciate leaving the shelter environment and being placed into an experienced, adult only home.
