Dog meet and greets are by appointment only, please answer the questions below the bio, either through Petfinder, Adopt-A-Pet or by directly e-mailing us at [email protected]. Please be patient, we are over capacity and short staffed, we try to get back to everyone quickly, it may be 4-5 days. *Available for adoption after his dental on 11/9/23, we would love to get meet and greets set up now*** Meet Charlie, a 7yr old, neutered male Chihuahua. Charlie needs a home that understands senior dogs, he is happiest when he can come to you for pets, maybe crawl up in your lap, if he is comfortable. He is not a dog who wants constant affection, he needs his space, he is getting arthritic and fast movements or picking him up can be painful for him. When he arrived he was guarded, we were told he was vicious by his owner, that he would bite her when she picked him up or forced him out of his carrier. He was painful, and handling him roughly made it worse. We have had him since July, getting to know him, figuring out what he needs, he has never tried to bite us, except at the vet, he sits in our laps, comes and gets affection, but he is the happiest laying in his little bed, he loves to bark at the other dogs outside, but stops when told to. He loves car rides, treats and a comfy bed. My adoption fee is $100: Included Neuter, Microchip, vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, routine blood work, dental and a 30 day supply of Galliprant (Arthritis medication) and a 1lbs bag of food. 1. Do you have a privately fenced yard? 2. How many humans and ages live in your home? Male/female for adults? 3. How many animals, types and male/female for dogs? 4. Do you have the patience to allow Charlie to get comfortable with you? 5. Have you had a senior dog before? If so tell us about them? 6. Can you provide a super soft dog bed for him? 7. Charlie is on an arthritic medication called Galliprant 10mg, this will be a life long medication, it will require yearly blood work from your veterinarian, this medication can run from $90-$150 for a 3mth supply. Is this something you can financially afford to do?
