About Rocco

Rocco is still in search of his furever in Pasadena, MD! Just look at this smile! Rocco is ready to find his new best friend. Rocco is a 7 year old red and white Aussie with handsome copper accents and a nub tail. We do not know the full extent of the trauma he endured before coming to rescue, but we do know that this diamond in the ruff is transforming into a wonderful dog! He had been severely neglected, and when he came to us, he was very thin and his coat was a mess. With his foster family, he's learning about the joys of grooming and a healthy coat, and he has gained 20 pounds! He's now at a healthy weight of about 60 pounds. His foster family adores him and has also exposed him to the joys of swimming! Despite his past experiences, Rocco is a very affectionate and devoted dog. It takes him a while to warm up, but he is loyal and loves pets, once he gets to know and trust you. He'll happily sit with you on the couch to receive lots of pets. We don't know that Rocco got to play with lots of dogs in his past life, but he enjoys the company of his foster siblings, including chase and wrestle. We think he'd do best with a more submissive pal, or we think he'd thrive as an only dog. His foster dad describes him as a great friend! Wants to be with his people and go with you anywhere - speaking of which he is good in the car. He has a lovely medium energy level. We recommend an adult home or older children for Rocco, and Rocco should not be in a home with cats or small animals. He is good with horses though! Rocco is neutered, up to date on vaccines, crate trained, house trained, and walks well on a leash (though sometimes he barks/reacts at new people and dogs on walks). Rocco will require ongoing training and positive experiences to be his best self, but this soulful guy is so worth it!
