Due to the detailed behavior issues, this animal is only available for foster/adoption through one of ACC's New Hope Partners. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please fill out the pre-screener form. This animal is not directly available for adoption through ACC and is only available by completing the pre-screener form. Adoption inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response. Pre-Screener Form Velvet is on the emergency placement list due to behavioral reasons. Velvet becomes overstimulated easily, causing her to bite at handlers. Medically, Velvet is underweight. Velvet was surrendered with another dog to ACC. Her previous owner reports that Velvet is reactive towards other dogs/lunging towards them, but is playful and tolerate of dogs she is familiar with. She is reported to guard resources from the other dogs which resulted in a bite, and will need someone who is comfortable working with her to prevent any future incidents. We recommend Velvet go to an experienced, adult-only home that will provide her with the space and time needed to acclimate to her surroundings as well as force free training to work on her behavior concerns. I love to be loved, but on my own terms! Let's brush up on some canine body language together! Please check here for updated adoption hours.
