Goldie is a beautiful and resilient pup in need of an adoring family brimming with love for her and her well being. She's young and excitable with a low threshold and escalates to jumping up and mouthing. So she'll need some help honing her manners. Goldie means no harm. She just needs to be taught by a consistent and caring family. This gorgeous gorgeous girl is out of time at the Manhattan shelter and she's been added to the kill list where she will die if no one comes for her. Goldie is looking to celebrate her 3rd birthday around the time we'll be ringing in the New Year. She'd love nothing more than to start out 2024 with a Milkbone-shaped doggy birthday cake and the promise that she is home and she's there to stay! I have been microchipped Madre (Goldie) is on emergency placement for behavioral reasons. She has been observed to have a low threshold for arousal and has escalated to snapping. Medically, she is apparently healthy. Goldie arrived to ACC with no known history. She has appeared social with many handlers, often jumping up or mouthing when excited. Goldie has been observed to have a low threshold for arousal and may become tense, jump up, or escalate to snapping when overstimulated. We recommend further placement into an experienced, adult-only home with access to additional training or behavior resources to help Goldie properly manage her energy or arousal levels. A different handler was able to successfully leash Goldie using treats. Summary (7): 9/21/23: Goldie slowly comes to the front when handler approaches with neutral body. She takes treats through the bars and is then easily leashed. In the yard, she is subdued and coughing at times. She takes treats with a hard mouth. She remains neutral body throughout. When returning to kennel, handler tosses in a handful of treats which Goldie follows in and leash in removed. 9/15/23 ACS report that when returning Goldie to kennel she spins around quickly and begins to tug the leash hard into kennel. 9/14/23: When an ACS was returning Goldie to her kennel after a walk, Goldie grabbed the leash and tugged at it. She would not relinquish the leash until another handler squeaked a toy. She let go of the leash long enough for the original handler to remove the leash from kennel. 9/13/23 When approaching Goldie in kennel, she is jumping u
