Available NY,NJ,CT,PA,DC,MD,DE,NH,RI,LI,MA,VT,ME OBI has been in the AC all summer. With the cooler weather coming, why not have this big beautiful girl, who's full of love and life, come into your home furever? Her behavior has improved, going from NH only rating to level 4. She's been sitting and waiting for her hero and a good home for over a month now and needs your help finding it. Please help us network OBI far and wide for a loving home where she'll be safe, one where she won't end up back at the shelter. A volunteer writes: Some dogs seem misunderstood and I think Obi fell into that category when she FIRSt arrived. Coming to us from an unstable past, she struggled initially, earning her the status of 'rescue only.' However, in the days since, all that changed as Obi decompressed and settled - and today Obi we are thrilled to say that available to adopt directly! Today Obi wags and wiggles her nearly 70lbs. She is beyond thrilled to see her volunteer friends out and about. She believes in her heart that her big, happy body can fit on my lap. To her credit she makes it work, repositioning herself until she is comfortable. She loves to get her face rubbed and pushes into your hands when you do. Above all she loves food, a girl truly after my own heart. We hope someone great sees Obi soon, and that Obi gets a chance to keep decompressing and keep telling her own story. To meet her come to Brooklyn ACC and ask for her by name! OBI@BROOKLYN ACC Obi ID#177241, 5 years old, 68 lbs Medium Mixed Breed, Gray/White - Unaltered Female Returned; Came in as a STRAY Medical Behavior Evaluation: 5. Red. Behavior Evaluation: Level 4. INTAKE DATE: 07/14/2023 PET PROFILE: My health has been checked. My vaccinations are up to date. My worming is up to date. I have been microchipped RETURNED: Previously surrendered as a stray April 2023 A Little Bit About Me Due to the detailed behavior issues, this animal is only available for foster/adoption through one of ACC's New Hope Partners. If you are interested in adopting or fostering, please fill out the pre-screener form. This animal is not directly available for adoption through ACC and is only available by completing the pre-screener form. Adoption inquiries sent directly to ACC will not receive a response. Obi was surrendered to BACC as a stray. Was there previously as a stray April 2023. She has been intensely fearful at the care center and has escalated to baring teeth and snapping at staff several times, allowing minimal handling, and is difficult to remove from her kennel due to leash biting. As a result, we recommend she be placed with an experienced, adult-only foster or adopter home through one of our New Hope partners where she can take the time and space she needs to decompress along with the use of a certified trainer that uses positive reinforcement only to address her challenges. Upon intake he appeared to be friendly but did show teeth. He walked fine to medical, pulling the leash somewhat. What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I really enjoy toys! I'll let you know my favorite one when we meet! Please check here for updated adoption hours.
