About Blue

Blue is a 1 yr old/30 lb neutered male Heeler. He's dog & people friendly & cute as a button! Housebroken too! Blue is being fostered in a great home. Jordan just went to the shelter and got him out to stop this crazy talk of euthanizing him for space! He's getting Blue lots of exposure to everything so we know more of him. So far we have these observations: - Great with kids, leaves them alone for the most part. Doesn't mind loud noises or kids running around near him. - Very quiet. The only time I have heard him even play bark once or twice when he is playing with other dogs. Does not bark when people come to the front door, etc. - Good with other dogs. He does really like to play and jumps up with his front paws to 'push-off' of the dog he is playing with. Our older dog is teaching him manners and he is doing this less and less as our old guy finds it rude haha. He takes direction really well from other dogs and does not try to be an alpha. He played great with 2 other smaller dogs (male chihuahua - not neutered and male rat terrier mix - neutered) as well as a large female Rhodesian ridgeback at the barn. - OK on a leash. Learning to walk in a straight line and not pull but getting better! - Needs regular exercise - just as any puppy would! But I actually think he would be fine in a regular home as long as he had a backyard and went on regular walks everyday. But after he plays, he is happy to come inside and chill or lay down. - Smart - he has learned 'out' already. Working on 'bed'. His recall is great - he ran around on a ranch today and even when playing with other dogs, I was able to call him back from about 100 yards away! - Sweet and Willing. This sweet boy doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. He might not always know what he is supposed to do but if you tell him 'no' or 'leave it', he listens immediately. Lets you touch him all over. - not food aggressive at all. I am feeding our dogs in separate rooms as I don't know him well enough. But, they both had bully sticks yesterday and Blue never tried to take Fred's (our dog) stick. He also lets me take his food away from him, pet him, put my hand in his bowl while eating without a single sign of aggression. - OK with horses. He was interested but did not try to chase after them. We will be back to the barn this week to see how he does when people are riding. - Good with people but slow to warm up. Met a lot of people today, he was happy to go say hi to everyone but it does take him a bit to fully warm up and seek other people's attention. But, he has only been with us a day and is a bundle of love. - Not really interested in toys yet. Has played with a tennis ball on his own but doesn't really fetch. When he is playing with us, he will put your arm in his mouth but does not bite and as soon as you say no, he stops. I would just call this normal puppy behavior!
