Akita
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Gaia is a beautiful 2 year old purebred AKC Akita born 06/01/21. She is up to date on her vaccines, microchipped, spayed, heartworm free, and wearing a Seresto collar that is good through the end of 2023. She was diagnosed at 9 weeks with a heart murmur, was evaluated by the Oregon State University Small Animal Cardiology department, received additional follow up prior to her spay, and no treatment is recommended due to its stability and size. It does not cause her any problems or slow her down in any way. She is a dominant female and would likely not do well in a home with other dogs. She might get along with a submissive male dog, but there is no guarantee. Despite living with cats her entire life and working with our vet clinic for more than a year, she has a strong prey drive that kicks in occasionally and has attacked our cats repeatedly, including my ESA. She cannot go to a home with cats, other small uncaged animals, or small children (though she has no experience with children). All of that being said, she LOVES her people and is very devoted to her family. She would likely do well with school aged children and would love pre-teens/teens to play with. It breaks my heart to have to rehome her, but I would rather do this than keep her locked up for most of her life. Gaia will be rehomed with all of her belongings including food I have on hand at the time, collar, leash, harness, calming chews, orthopedic bed, copies of all her records, and all her toys (that she hasn't eaten by then). I have more pictures and am happy to email or text them to you if requested. I am a nurse and I work nights so email is the best way to contact me, but you are welcome to call as well as long as you realize that you may have to leave a message, and phone calls will not be returned until I have a day off work. Email will be addressed as soon as I can, including on my breaks at work. Please feel free to ask questions and provide information about yourself, your household, and your experience with dogs. I want her next home to be her forever home, as it should have been with me. Erin
