About LIBBY

German Shepherd mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Healthy, friendly girl! She has colouring and fur of a shepherd but is smaller in size (52lbs) and has floppy ears. She is incredibly smart, knows her basic commands - sit, stay, go, come, lay down. She can walk on a leash with a harness as she is a puller and I haven't been able to completely get rid of that habit. She loves playing ball and will bring it back for as long as you keep throwing it. She loves being outside, chewing on sticks and will help you cut the grass and keep the dandelions down! She is completely house trained, but will leak urine with anxiety or excitement. She loves the water, but does not swim. She can be an anxious girl and would do best with a quieter home. She has only been around kids 5yrs and up and will lay down and roll over for belly rubs. She does not like loud talking, shouting, loud noises. She will hide in a room away from the sound. She is good with other dogs her size, will run and play with them. She has not been around smaller dogs, so I don't know how she would behave. She eats well, does not guard her food and loves apples and cucumbers. She needs grain/chicken free food as she does have an allergy and will chew her paws raw. She is very, very lovey and will follow me around the house, lay at my feet and sleeps by my bedside. She will bark at the front door if someone rings the bell/knocks, but on the whole, she is not a barking dog. She will scratch at the door if she wants to come inside. In the past three years I have divorced, changed jobs to full time and now my two boys are out of the house with secondary education. She is being left alone quite a bit and it is stressing her out as shown by her extreme clinginess with me when I am home and has started growling at my partner and his dog only when they come near me. We have been trying for the past year to get her used to the both of them in various ways and settings, but she will not relax when they are around. She has never shown actual physical aggression, but her body language tells me she is not happy. She has never growled before and I am thinking that with being left alone so much with everyone gone and then having someone else share my attention, she is really quite stressed. Another challenge is that I must downsize to a much smaller home and she would not have a yard anymore. I would love to find a home for her with a family or a couple who could devote time to her like myself and my boys used to be able to give her. She would love all the attention of kids and a family environment again. She is used to a yard she can trot around in and play ball. Please contact me if you would like anymore information. I want to make sure this transition is a positive one and will expect to meet you and anyone else before letting her go.
