About Kalani

Kalani is one of the 131 dogs surrendered to Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center on August 24th. On August 26th she went into one of our foster homes. Kalani is a 5 year old, 57 pound Goldendoodle. Kalani has changed a lot in the last three weeks and will continue to change as her world opens up. She is learning all the sounds a normal home makes like the TV, ice maker, and washer and what a normal schedule is. She is excited to see her foster parents when they come home. She is still not confident enough to approach them until they are sitting down. Walking towards her still scares her, but she follows her foster mom everywhere she goes. She is a smart girl and quickly figured out humans aren't all horrible and seeks her foster parent's attention often. She now loves the attention of her humans so much she will push another dog out of the way to get attention. When Kalani's foster parents are gone she is left loose in her home. She spent 5 years in a kennel and never needs to see one again. At night Kalani sleeps in her bed next to her human's bed. Walking on a leash is new to her so she requires a physically fenced yard so she can safely run and play. Kalani is looking for a patient, dog experienced home where someone is around a lot of the time. Kalani is housetrained, spayed, current on her vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
