Available NY,NJ,CT,PA,DC,MD,DE,NH,RI,LI,MA,VT,ME HANDSOME SMILEY BOY CHARLESTON NEEDS YOU. He's a very social boy who loves being petted as well as cheese. He even greeted staff with licks and jumped up to get pets. Charleston loves to seek attention, but as a young boy who was never shown manners and how to greet people properly, he does tend to be jumpy. He is a cute boy who loves the company of people. The ACC, being kill happy, will use any reason to kill a sweet, social, friendly young dog whose only crime is being a homeless dog no one wants. Doesn't he deserve a loving home with pawsome people who will give him the love and care he needs? Please dance over to Manhattan ACC and save Charleston! His time is running out! CHARLESTON 181913 MANHATTAN ACC Estimated to be 2 years 1 week old, 56.2 lbs UNALTERED MALE, LARGE MIXED BREED STRAY FROM NY MEDICAL BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: 2. Blue. BEHAVIOR RATING: LEVEL 3 INTAKE DATE: 09/08/2023 PET PROFILE Stray, no known history. Upon intake Charleston came in with a lose body and wiggly tail. He greeted staff with licks and jumped up to get pets. He sat for treats and drank water. Charleston was hyper and jumped up and moved around a lot but allowed staff to scan for MC and collar. He did bark at a dog coming into BRC but only after the dog barked at Charleston and then he remained quiet and didn't pay any mind. Charleston allowed staff to place a lead over his head and walked to the kennel where he was coaxed into the kennel with treats. Charleston is on emergency placement for behavioral reasons. He is a highly social and playful dog who at this time has become panicked, pancaked, or attempted to flee when returning to the kennel. Medically, he is apparently healthy. What my friends at ACC say about me: I am playful and cute! I will need daily physical activity to keep me healthy and happy! I am excitable and energetic! I will need positive outlets for my energy! I will need appropriate toys and positive outlets for my energy. I would do best in a home with only adult humans. I have been known to shower my favorite people in love! I love getting pets and - you guessed it - snuggles! Please check here for updated adoption hours. Charleston arrived as a stray with no history. He is a social presenting and playful dog who seeks attention from his handlers. He may jump up or become mouthy at play. Charleston has appeared stressed in the shelter setting, now pancaking or flailing away when attempting to walk him through the kennel room to his kennel. He would succeed best if given the opportunity to live in a home environment with experienced caretakers.
