Lenox was brought in as an owner surrender because his owner is too elderly to care for such a young, spry and playful boy. Lenox is just two years old and he's a compact, lightweight forty-three pounds. To boot, he's been rated LEVEL 2. It should be against the rules to put such a good boy on such a deadly list. We understand the overcrowding and that this already chaotic environment has become even more hectic but we have to make concessions for Lenox. This little guy needs and deserves a loving home. He's loose, wiggly and social, active and eager for treats, food and love, but he's also underweight and his nails need to be trimmed. Lenox needs a safe and quiet space where he can have the time he needs to decompress, as well as time to get to know the new people/person in his life. Lenox is overwhelmed at the shelter and may need to be your one and only. LENOX@MANHATTAN ACC Lenox ID#179187, 2 years old, 43 lbs Medium Mixed Breed, Black Unaltered Male Came into shelter as a Owner Surrender Reason Stated: Elderly Owner Medical Behavior Evaluation: 1. Green Behavior Assessment Rating: LEVEL 2 INTAKE DATE: 8/7/2023 PET PROFILE: My health has been checked. My vaccinations are up to date. My worming is up to date. I have been microchipped Lenox is on emergency placement for behavior concerns. Lenox remains highly dog reactive in the care center, lunging and growling toward them during walks; he is unable to be easily refocused. Additionally, Lenox has begun to jump up and grab the leash throughout walks. Medically, Lenox has CIRDC and is underweight. Level 2 Behavior Rating: Summary: This dog may have some low-intensity behavior challenges or mild triggers, but is suitable for most adopters with some dog experience. Dogs with Level 2 determinations are believed to be suitable for adopters with some previous dog experience. They will have displayed behavior in the shelter (or have owner-reported behavior) that requires some training, behavior management or modification. Dogs with a Level 2 determination may have multiple potential challenges and these may be presenting at differing levels of intensity, so careful consideration of the behavior notes will be required for counseling. Lenox arrived to the care center as an owner surrender. His previous owner mentions that he will bark at strangers as well as dogs on leash. Lenox has been observed to be initially shy in the care center though has been observed to warm up and seek attention. Since intake, Lenox has been observed to display a high level of dog reactivity, lunging, growling and hard barking; he has been unable to be easily refocused. For these reasons, we recommend an experienced home environment for Lenox. *What my friends at ACC say about me: I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am. MEDICAL EXAM NOTES My medical notes are...
