About Aspen

LOCATION: Troy, Texas DOB: 11/06/2014 (Estimate) Aspen is an amazing, gorgeous, sweet girl looking for a new home. She is a funny girl who makes cute faces and will turn her head when you talk to her. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle with her humans. This beauty has lived with other dogs, but would do well in a home with no small dogs. She is food aggressive so she does need to be fed away from her furry pals. She has not been exposed much to cats, but given that she needs large-breed playmates, we will keep her as a no-cat home for now. Aspen has lived with farm animals, specifically horses and chickens, who she loves to tease and will give a quick friendly chase to. She enjoys being around children over 5 years old. The littlest crawling ones and toddlers tend to scare her a bit though. With grown up strangers, she will befriend them once she warms up to them. Aspen is leash trained and knows some basic obedience skills. She loves going for walks and she likes riding in cars so if you are looking for a road-buddy, Aspen will happily ride along. During thunderstorms, she could use a friendly face and warm body to snuggle with. If given the opportunity, she will peruse counters or trash for a tasty snack. Aspen was diagnosed with Diabetes and will require daily medication. She needs to be on a regular potty schedule to prevent accidents. She is housetrained and good about letting her people know when nature calls. Also, her body is heat-sensitive so keeping her comfortable in the AC on those really warm days is a must. In 2021 she tore ligaments in both rear knees and spent about a year on medication until she healed. This past year she has gained a lot of strength in her knees and continues to run around and play as any 'more mature' pup might do. Aspen's age sets her apart as she is now enjoying those mellow years of her life.
