RESCUE BACKS OUT ON SWEET, LOVING BOY!!! BACK ON THE URGENT LIST-HAS THROUGH THE WEEKEND IF YOU CAN FOSTER OR ADOPT PLEASE EMAIL [email protected] DON'T CONTACT THE SHELTER ABOUT FOSTERING AS THEY DO NOT HAVE A FOSTER PROGRAM Name: TEX Kennel ID: OB 4 GAFFNEY, SC. Hold Ends: September 8, 2023 Breed: Terrier x Appearance: Fawn/white. Gender: Neutered Male Estimated Age: 2-3yrs Estimated Weight: 35lbs Health: No current issues. Received HW treatment July 2023. Bio: Can a dog's smile get any bigger? This guy is beyond excited about life and everything in it. He's always up for a good time and wants to be friends with everyone. His ideal home will have a yard where he can run off some of his energy and a soft spot with his family when it's time to rest and snuggle. Housetrained: To be determined. Other Dogs: He loves other dogs and would probably do well with an energetic brother or sister to play with. Cats: He was thrilled to be meeting a new potential friend. but our cat was not interested in his happy and outgoing personality. We would suggest using caution around cats until he shows that he can be trusted. Children: We do not have kids to test with. We always recommend supervising children around dogs/puppies at all times. Sometimes our dogs/puppies are pretty active and might be too big for really small children and sometimes the children can be too rough around them. Leash: He will need a little help with manners but otherwise he did pretty good. Additional Information: After receiving a rescue commitment for him we pulled him from the shelter in June to send him for vet services and get him ready for the rescue to pick up. When we sent him for his neuter the clinic said they thought that he had a Grade I medial luxating patella on the right rear. We decided to send him to our regular vet for a second opinion and to make sure that he didn't require any additional medical care. Second Opinion Results: His knees don't line up perfectly but he doesn't show signs of pain or lameness and doesn't require any other care at this time. The rescue that originally committed to him says they are uncomfortable pulling him and will no longer be able to help him. We are now desperately trying to find a backup plan for him. Tex has been with us for 3 months. Sadly, we aren't able to kennel long term residents because that means we can't rescue shelter animals anymore once all our housing/kennel spaces are full. It takes a village to do rescue work. We are trying to do our part but we need help in finding him a forever home. This happy guy is so deserving of a family of his own. He promises to bring enough cheer for all!
