We ar open to the right situation Von has had severe separation anxiety since we got him as a puppy and despite years of really working on this and a lot of money spent, the two of us simply can't manage him well anymore given our schedules and life situation. He deserves better. We cannot leave him for more than 30-minutes or he is in distress and destroys drywall and such, hurting himself, too. He can't be put in a kennel (crate) either. To manage this, we have him in doggie daycare 5-1/2 days per week, have him on two anxiety medications, have a dog sitter every single time we have a date or go out when he's not in daycare, etc. Our lives literally revolve around him and frankly he's not thriving. Our vet agrees that we have him in the best place we can get him. We believe he will do better in a different environment with a person (or people) who can handle his unique situation, be happy with him as is or could train and manage him better than we have been able to.
