Arf! Arf, everyone! I'm Chester, a super-sweet, outgoing, friendly, spirited 25-pound harlequin Schnauzer mix fella who was born about September 2021. I'm mostly white with a black-pepper-and-salt saddle on my back and patches on my head as well as at the base of my tail. Perhaps I'm mixed with Tibetan Terrier or Lhasa Apso because Schnauzers never have as much white as I do. I'm great with everyone -- including other dogs and kids. I'm an adorable scruffy terrier with a wiry coat that will need some grooming. Don't you love the white tip on my tail? I'm very home- and family- oriented, but I still make a pretty good watchdog! Schnauzers were created to be all-around farm dogs and ratters, so I'm tough, muscular, and fearless without being aggressive. I'm small enough to adapt to apartment life but tireless enough to patrol acres of farmland. Given the chance, I would probably be a pretty enthusiastic squirrel chaser! My family must provide outlets for my upbeat athleticism. I'm a sturdy fella who really enjoys vigorous play. I can hold my own retrieving tennis balls at the dog park, if that's your pleasure. My bright eyes gleam with keen intelligence. I'm very smart and consequently easily trainable when my hooman is gentle but firm with me. A Good Samaritan found me as a stray who had been abandoned at a gas station and turned to Miss Donna to find me a home. No telling how long I'd been homeless because I tested heartworm positive. No worries! I'm undergoing slow-kill treatment, the cost for which Miss Donna is paying. We Schnauzers are 'the whole canine package' because we're sociable companions and alert watchdogs who are good with kids yet protective of loved ones. What more could you want? I'm sure that I'll have a new family soon, so don't waste any time arranging to meet me today. Chester is updated on shots, neutered, dewormed, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250 (which includes heartworm treatment) for dogs older than 9 months. An application must be filled out prior to adoption.
