Must sign adoption agreement Looking for a 501c3 He is not tied to any shelter; over the corse of a few years, we have stumbled across dumped dogs in our neighborhood, and helped them find a temporary foster or home. However, this time has proven difficult, and I believe his breed is a contribution. As backstory, we stumbled across Ceaser at the Wolf River Greenway on North highland and Epping Way. He was there for two weeks. Scarred, scared, and emaciated. We fed him and gave him water when we saw him. When the temperatures got well into the 100s, my mom insisted on us getting him out of the heat. He would take refuge in the bushes near the pond. After two days of convincing, my sister managed to get him in her car and into our home on June 20th. Sweet, submissive, and moderate energy. Our dilemma is that he didn't get along with our dogs. Which is a major issue due to our smaller dogs safety, and our cane corso having a torn ccl which needs surgery next month. We had him scanned for a chip and nothing. Taking him to the animal shelter came to mind. We thought he would go there and happily ever after, but we were informed he'd be euthanized in 3days if not adopted. That didn't sit right with me. I've reached out to over 100 rescues local and across the country and can not find a solution. All I got was 'Thank you for taking him on' 'he could be a former bait dog' and 'We are full' which I understand. Some people took interest, but wanted to use him rather than give to him. One lady lived alone, with no job and wanted to keep him as a protection dog. Another man wanted to keep him chained to his porch, and another wanted to keep him in his scrap yard. There is a lady who would give him a great home in Indiana, but she has a bad back. This dog was failed once and putting him in the wrong hands would mean failing him again. I take him on two 30 min walks, one being early morning and one at night. He eats three meals a day. A cup in the morning with either boiled chicken, gizards, fish or liver. A half a cup around 1:40, one last meal identical to breakfast and a reward for going in the kennel at night. He gets at least 3hrs of play a day He is well mannered indoors, but will go after a rug or pillow if left unsupervised, but is not possessive over anything, so it's simple to take it away. He is good on walks, but does try to do his own thing from time to time, but has improved significantly since the first time. He went from wondering to walking on a harness, so I can't fault him. He's a little over a year old, 62lbs, and in tact, and needs to be vetted. Is there any chance you may know of a rescue or foster home near that can take him on, and have him vetted? He would need to be housed alone for now which makes things more difficult. I know I'm asking a tall favor, but I want the best for this dog. I'm doing all I can. I get up at 4:25 am just so I have time to walk all the dogs. I let him out as much as I can and play with him, but he deserves better. Please help me not fail him again.
