About Velma

'You can't keep a good dog down!' No rat terrier proves the truth of that expression better than our valiant Velma. Velma was found living outdoors in squalid conditions by a kind soul, who was able to convince her owner to surrender her. Next, Velma's guardian angel obtained much-needed veterinary care for her, including treatment for heartworm, and then turned to us to help find her the kind of home she had deserved all along. In her New Rattitude foster home, 3-year-old Velma has wowed everyone with her playfulness. She gets along with all the dogs in the household, but her very best friend is a young pup with whom she'll romp and tumble for hours in the grass. She also loves to chase squirrels and play with her chew toys. Velma is hoping that all this activity will help her shed a bit of her current chunkiness. (She weighs 23 lbs., but she's otherwise quite healthy.) Despite her original neglectful environment, Velma is house-trained and asks to go out to potty. While she barks at cats, she isn't aggressive towards them. At night, Velma transforms into a couch potato, and she loves getting belly rubs and giving kisses.
