Courtesy Posting: URGENT PLEASE! SWEET, ADORABLE SENIOR CHOW LADY FOUND ROAMING IN HOT DESERT WITH HER CHOW LADY FRIEND NEEDS A LOVING HOME, FOSTER AND/OR RESCUE TO SAVE HER LIFE. CARDI - ID #A819997 Pima Shelter, Tucson, AZ Please help us find a loving home, foster and or rescue for this sweet, adorable senior chow lady 'Cardi' before her time runs out. Listed at age 10, this dear girl was brought to the Pima shelter as a stray after being seen roaming in very hot temperatures for days with another female chow believed to be her friend, although it is unclear if they were bonded and we may never unfortunately know. Not to worry though, the other chow has now been caught, but ended up at a different shelter and is estimated to be only 3 years old. We are also assisting the other shelter with her placement. For senior Cardi though who is most urgent, the Pima shelter says she weighs only 38 lbs at this time. Although she came in understandably scared and shy, they said she has improved with handling, and is described by the rescue coordinator as 'very sweet'. Originally, she was also mistaken for a male, so her original behavior and medical notes refer to as a male named Carter. Thus, they state, 'Carter was social and tolerant and overall easy going. He does appear to be sensitive around his neck however tolerated placing a collar found the neck. He is a sweet old man that just enjoys being himself.' Cardi has since been dog tested in playgroup, mostly ignored the other dogs, but we have several videos we can share. She also has been treated for some nasal discharge and has now been cleared and moved to a kennel with anther female, unrelated dog she has done fine with. However, Cardi was just found to have a mammary mass which is being further investigated by the shelter vet. It may need removal. The shelter tells us she also needs a dental as her teeth are not in good shape. Thus, we are looking for a good home or foster and or rescue to get her out of the shelter asap, and before she is euthanized for space. With fostering, the rescue typically covers necessary vetting within reason. If you have an interest in adopting or fostering Cardi, please go to her shelter listing at: https://www.adoptapet.com/pet/39169085-tucson-arizona-chow-chow?fbclid=IwAR3et83FWsWDgcwt-V8gixZjbYHCBI-RXezxMSslkbU4VP8wCDJTPqP2sPA and call (520) 724-5900 and or email [email protected] and ask for ID# A819997. Ideally, we would love a home or homes for both dogs, but we realize this is not always possible, and again, we do not know if they are bonded. Our focus is on finding a safe home and outlet for Cardi who is most urgent. For further information or assistance on either dog, though, particularly if you are interested to foster, please also contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is assisting the shelters with her/their placement.
