About Bruno

Adoption Fee: $100
Rottweiler / Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

My sister, and I, as we are a full time caravan of RV'ers, are in a really tough spot with her Rott/Pitt mix, Bruno. She adopted him a few years ago, before going full time RV. She actually rescued him from a high kill shelter%BD'%BD| she drove over six hours to save him on the day he was scheduled to be put down. She has had dogs most of her life and is very good with them. She didn't really know his history, beyond him being in the shelter system for over a year, and mostly kept in a cage due to no one knowing how to handle him. He has anxiety, for sure. He actually did pretty well at her house, with a semi-small backyard, kids and a sister dog. They hiked, traveled and spent a lot of time outdoors. He loves being outside, although he is a little overweight because her mother-in-law likes to send homemade pumpkin cookies frequently, so he tires quickly. She and her husband had no reason to believe that he would not be a good fit for full time travel. They've been on the road for just about two years now, me traveling with them for about one, and he is not doing well on the road, at all. Trainers cannot seem to help him either. He hides from any sudden noise, even though his big size doesn't really allow for many spots in an RV. He does give big sloppy kisses and he loves to take over the bed. Mostly, he likes to be in a dark, quiet spot all the time. He's good with her dog, and mine (a chihuahua name Gizmo), but he's suddenly started trying to dart out the door at any other passing dog. He's big and not easy to stop. We are so so afraid of what might happen if he does actually get out. We have resorted to muzzling him and only walking him when no one else is outside%BD'%BD| which is so unfair to him. As hard as it is to admit, she may have underestimated his ability to adapt to this lifestyle, but now that we're here, we only have one choice%BD'%BD| to hopefully, find a home for him where he can actually live a life and not hide from it. We are willing to do whatever it takes to find him that place. My biggest fear is that I ask the wrong people for help and they use him for fighting purposes. We want him to be somewhere he can prosper and we can visit him in our travels. I've attached some pics and if there is anything you can do, or any direction you can point me, I would be greatly appreciative. Most of the places I've talked to who save unadaptable dogs are overbooked and underfunded, and we cannot just take him to a shelter because he will never prosper and more than likely, will end up back on death row. We don't have much, be we will do whatever we can to help. We are also willing to travel to make sure he gets to his new home safely. I appreciate you taking the time to read this! Thank you!!
