About Stilgar

Stilgar is 2 years old and he is a neutered male. He is a very curious, fun-loving dog. Stilgar story is that his owners brought him to us to be euthanized due to them adopting ducks into the family. Being a hunting breed of course the first thing Stilgar wants to do is chase the ducks. His owners grabbed him and he bit them. The owners wanted him euthanized. We took him in for observation and we decided that wasn't what we wanted for him. The owner surrendered the dog to us and we are actively looking for his forever home. Stilgar did go to North Carolina to a very nice man to see if he could get him to hunt bears but Stilgar liked being in the truck more than the woods. He was very well behaved there and got along with the other dogs. He has been completely vetted and is on heartworm prevention and flea and tick control. I will tell you that Stilgar does not like the vet's office. We do have to sedate at times to get blood or even vaccinate but I feel with some counter conditioning this can be corrected. He has not been around toddlers or cats so I am not sure how he would be. My husband and I have had him in our truck and he rides beautifully. He is house trained and crate trained and does not have separation anxiety.
