I acquired Sapphire about 6 years ago. We believe she was 1 year old at the time. We received Sapphire from a friend of a friend who was a police officer. He took custody of Sapphire during an arrest. The police officer was given custody of Sapphire but he already had a chihuahua and Saph did not get along with their other dog so I offered to take her. Since we have had her, she has been a great dog but has had some separation anxiety, and has never been a fan of the vet. We give her prescribed Trazedone when she sees the vet to keep her calm and anxiety meds once daily to help with the separation anxiety. Her anxiety also means she is a social eater and typically won't eat unless you are in the room with her, or she will carry some food to where you are and eat it off the floor there. Outside of those issues, the only other health/vet issue she has had was a cyst on her eye lid which was surgically removed. She is up to date on all vaccines and heartworm meds/tests. Sapphire is potty and crate trained, but she does not do well if she is kept in the crate for extended times due to her anxiety. As a somewhat typical Husky, she find ways escape and needs to have a yard to run around in, or someone who can help her work out all her energy. Sapphire has been great with my friends and family but had never been great or comfortable when kids are in the mix without close supervision. Last year my wife and I had a baby who she had been very affectionate with but now that he is crawling she had been acting aggressive towards him. Recently she jumped on top of him and scratched his face deeply. The baby is ok, and will have no lasting injuries from the incident, but we no longer feel it is safe for them to remain in the same home and believe they would both be happier if Sapphire had a new home with no kids to live in. Outside of this incident she has never done anything like this to him, but has growled a few time if he crawled near her food. During this incident, she wasn't near any food and gave no warning so I'm not sure what caused such a dramatic reaction. Saph has had some issues with not understanding how to play nicely with little kids (rushing up to them or growling if they run close to her) but has never lashed out like this. Sapphire is truly a loving dog and is very chill for a husky. She loves laying around the house, and running around with zoomies outside. If there are any questions please feel free to contact me and I will provide more information.
