About Rooster

Catahoula mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Name: Rooster Age: approx. 2 years old Breed: Catahoula mix, 90 pounds Sex: Male (not neutered) Location: Johnson County, TX Rooster showed up at his owner's place of work as a homeless puppy, and he's been with them about a year and a half. Now, they must rehome him. He deserves a family and to be loved. He really is such a great dog and well behaved. Vet Info: Rooster is not neutered, microchipped, or up to date on vaccinations. He has not been heartworm tested. When his owners took him to the vet to get his eye checked the vet said he was completely blind in one eye and that it was most likely from some blunt force trauma that happened when he was a puppy. Rooster is not in any pain. He just can't see out of that eye. Otherwise, we are told that he is in great health. Dog Info: Rooster is an indoor dog with the run of the house. He is housebroken and leash trained. Rooster has learned cues for Sit, Shake, Down, Follow, and Stay! Although he's an outgoing dog, Rooster can be shy at times. He's good with people of all ages. Rooster acts young, is super playful, and is so affectionate. His owners think he was a working dog. Has a ton of energy and is very loyal. Rooster had gotten along with the other two intact male dogs in the home until recently. Now that he is an adult dog, three intact males in the home have proven challenging. His owner reports that Rooster is territorial over his food, and when another dog tries to be dominant towards him or grumbles, he jumps on them. They tell us that Rooster is their most well behaved dog, but he isn't tolerant of aggression from their other dogs. However, Rooster is not aggressive to people at all. Rooster adapts well to new surroundings and situations and is a very outgoing dog once he is comfortable. Please email [email protected] if you're interested in Rooster. Please note that we'll ask for a vet reference. **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
