About Rocky

Lab / Pit Bull
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

While Rocky may be new to social media, he is not new to the shelter! In fact, Rocky has been at the shelter since early July after him and his sister were found on a backroad near Blue Oval. We believe they were likely dumped there due to how confused and friendly they were. The reason Rocky hasn't been shared for so long is because his foot was badly infected on intake and he had ringworm. Surprisingly, his sister was not as bad off and Rocky was and was quickly adopted! Now that Rocky is better in health and spirits, we hope that he may meet that same fate soon! Rocky is kind of known to have some trust issues. He can be very avoidant of strangers at times, and we believe this probably has something to do with how he was treated in his previous home and abandonment. As humans, we can all understand how the bad apples in our lives can make us distrusting at times, so the shelter workers have spent a lot of time with Rocky in attempts to make him feel more secure. It has worked wonders for his confidence! Now, he is always super curious of newcomers and appears to enjoy making new friends. As far as other dogs go, he is an absolute dreamboat! Even when approached by a more dominant dog, Rocky does not care for drama and will simply avoid confrontation. All he wants to do is play with other dogs who want to play with him. He is a no drama llama! Rocky is very sweet in personality and would do well with children of any age due to his calmer disposition. He is even good with cats! What more could you ask for in a pup?! Rocky is currently 6 months old and weighs around 35 pounds at this time, he is a bit underweight still, so we estimate he may weigh around 50 pounds as an adult! His right leg that was injured on intake has now completely healed, but he will avoid putting pressure on it sometimes. This appears to be out of habit rather than actual pain. Rocky has been vaccinated, treated for internal/external parasites and is heartworm negative at this time!
