Sarge is a rescue who came from a shelter with little to no knowledge of his past owner. All we know is he was abused/neglected and has trauma with men and taller people. He is not kennel trained (actually terrified of them) and has an extensive bite history, one of which ended with stitches. He is muzzle trained and needs to use one on walks as he is leash aggressive as well. He would be best kept in a house with no other pets and possibly just one human with a yard, though he can be fence aggressive as well. He tends to bark at every noise, and especially at people or dogs walking by. He just needs more care and space and training than I can give him, as I am a broke college student who works full time. He is a great cuddler but would probably be best behaved without furniture privileges, unless given proper training. He brings you toys when he's happy and wags with his whole body. When you tell him to shake, he uses both paws. He has only ever made one real dog friend as he was not very well socialized but loves playing with him (and loudly). He sits with me when I'm anxious, and does paw at me when he wants to be pet. He asks politely for food and walks, usually by sitting in front of you and staring at you intently, sometimes crying if he really has to go. He is very anxious about the vet as well, he has trauma with medical instruments so he usually needs to be sedated but does well at fear-free clinics. He would make a great guard dog, but is super sweet when he's not triggered into aggression. Please give him a chance if you're willing to put in the work!
