Still. Here. Poor little Ducky sees dog after dog go to their new homes while he waits and waits for a family to love him. It's so sad, he is such a sweet pup! No small children or much bigger or alpha dogs (they are scary to this silly sweetie!). A fenced yard is a must for his comfort. Ducky and his littermates were born into rescue on June 10th, and he's still here! When he was with all of his siblings he was the outgoing leader of the group but as they have all gotten adopted and he's been left behind he has started to be a little more shy. After he is comfortable with someone (doesn't take too long), Ducky is friendly, playful and snuggly but at first he can be timid and hesitant in new situations and with new people. He needs a little time to adjust and then he is a sweetheart who loves hugs and attention! Ducky likes to play with the other dogs once he knows them and he gets along with them just fine. But if there is another dog in the home it should be a calmer dog buddy who won't intimidate him. An alpha or a much bigger dogger than he is will scare him. We think a calm, sweet-natured dog in the 10-40 pound range is perfect for him. He probably needs a doggy buddy if he will be spending longer hours alone, if he gets lots of attention from his family he would likely be okay as an only in the right home. Ducky has not been tested with cats or kids but we think he would fine with the attention of older children (10+). He won't be comfortable with young kids with their fast movements and loud voices. Ducky is a smart boy who's doing great with his potty training, uses a doggy door, and knows how to sit for treats. He should have a home with a fenced yard for his comfort and safety. He loves to play with toys, either with another dog or on his own. At night he is happy to sleep in bed with his people! Ducky has visited the vet for a wellness check, is neutered, has been fecal tested and wormed, has had all his shots, his rabies vaccine, has been started on heartworm prevention, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Puppies, dogs with pending vet appointments, and dogs with behavioral issues are only adoptable within a 1 hour drive to Pensacola. Most others we will consider within a 5-hour drive. We do not ship or transport our dogs. *We are a foster-based rescue and do not have a facility. Our dogs live in private homes in and around the Pensacola area until they are adopted.
