About Nico

Adoption Fee: $75
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Nico is a sweet, wonderful boy who is looking for his new forever home. We are sad to have to rehome him because he no longer gets along with our other dog. Nico is a great dog and loves all humans he meets, but has developed problems with other dogs (for which he's gone to a lot of training and the behavior is very manageable outside the home for an owner who is willing to keep up with the training) that causes him to need to be in a single-pet home. He does seem to get along better with female dogs, especially other herder breeds, but still should always meet new dogs while wearing his muzzle and cannot live with any other pets in the house. He is also relatively untested around young kids, so the best fit for him would be a single human or couple, or a family with kids past grade school. Some additional info: Based in Boise, ID Neutered All vaccinations up to date About 7 years old (adopted so we're not entirely sure) Nico loves all outdoor activities (walks, hiking, snowshoeing, swimming, etc) but can't go to dog parks due to his behavioral issues. He is medium-energy; low energy for his breed but still needs a walk per day and plenty of love and quality time with his humans to be happy We adopted him nearly 6 years ago from the Idaho Humane Society after he went through the IDAPI program, which means he is very well trained including tricks, leashed walks, muzzle, crate, and e-collar. With humans, he is snuggly and sweet, silly and loyal. He is such a wonderful dog and if it weren't for the problems between him and our other dog, we would never give him up. Whoever he goes to will need to be willing and capable of keeping up with his training to maintain the progress he's made with his behavioral problems with dogs.
